Georgia

The rapidly disintegrating (if it ever took effect) ceasefire between Georgian forces and South Ossetia separatists has claimed more lives. A small pice in the papers today includes the following:

"Western countries are watching for any widening of the violence which could affect a pipeline due to supply them with Caspian Sea oil from next year."

As long as we know why we might get involved, eh? Fuck the locals, fuck the reasons for the violence, fuck peace. As long as we can still take the kids to school in 4x4's.

I wonder if the intelligence agancies might uncover evidence of hidden weapons of mass destruction...

Amid all the US/UK bluster about the need for fairness in the electoral process in Ukraine and the advancement of democracy as an end in itself, the occasional bit of truth slithers out.

The Ukraine is a key region for the pipelines that will bring oil and gas to The West.

Well blow me down. What a coincidence.
