"On November 18, 1992, the Union of Concerned Scientists, representing over 1,500 of the world's leading scientists (including 99 Nobel laureates), issued an Urgent Warning to Humanity that implored all peoples of the world to halt the accelerating damage to Mother Earth's life support systems. The scientists warned us that we may have as little as ten years to avert the environmental disasters that now confront us" http://www.sumeria.net/politics/enviro.html So, 2004, any thoughts, kind people?

Personally, I think that 10, or 12 years is too short a time for the impact to be measurable. Perhaps five hundred years is required. It caan always be argued that extremes and fluctuations int he weather patterns are just part of an acceptable natural deviation. Having said that, scarcely a month/season/year goes by without it being the wettest/hottest/windiest/somethingelsest since records began. Undoubtedly this is partly because of the relatively short period that records have been kept, but it's also potentially an indicator that patterns are changing.

Paul if you get the time, take a good read of the full article, it covers most of modern life, not just cliamte problems. You'll be needing a good half hour but it's an awesome work.
