Why is it interesting? Ah, that's because we are unusual, in the entire living world, we are the only species that farm and ingest the milk of another species beyond childhood and through adulthood. Milk marketing is so perfectly succesful that this isn't questioned. Anyway.

Dr Merrick's dietary calcium tips:

Tahini (crushed sesame seeds) has a massive calcium content. It's a bit sticky on its own, but having it on toast with yeast extract is a total winner.

I do home made high-calcium hummus, using calcium-enriched soya milk instead of water and shedloads of tahini.

Oh, that's what tahini is! I remember seeing that stuff in the health-food section at Wegmans... I'll definitely look into it.

Thanks for the info Gorsedded one. I was lazy when I said 'universal' and deserve a big slappo!

It's so right what you say about narrow-mindedness, cultural cul-de-sacs are engineered by marketeers, s'pose bucking the trend is as eve a personal thing, I just wish we had more available public information regarding healthfulness.

Mischief afoot. We don't 'create', we just harness, mix, borrow or re-assemble ;-)
