Well, I truly do believe that there is a tiny glimmer of hope. However, this involves mankind (who ever put the "kind" in that word!)

1) getting together
2) stop killing all the young people in wars
3) take up a serious euthenasia scheme
4) spend all the money spent on war on dealing with energy consumption problems
5) Ban standby functions on electrical goods
6) ... erm ...

We're fucked!

Don't (2) and (3) kind of cancel each other out?

how the fuck did that happen?

If the 'cliff' is imminent, beyond which there will be no return (?), then the greatest dose of cynical fucked-upness I perceive is the total and complete LACK of instruction and education regarding this crisis. Doesn't it make you quake with apopleptic rage to see yet another day go by without addressing the horrors of unsustainability? Short term management is a watchword for too many fat arses. I'm mad as fuck, plunder, ARGH, ARGH.

Of course I feel so much better voicing righteous dismay on an internet nessage board. Sarcasm! ARGH, another trap...

Cancelling out
May 01, 2003, 11:46
I re-worded these precisely because of someone saying exactly that.

"
2) stop killing all the young people in wars
3) take up a serious euthenasia scheme
"

The planet cannot support the ever increasing population - hence the euthenasia scheme.

However, the planet needs young people to help build the correct infrastructure.

Can I add

3a) Sterilise everyone at birth.

you could but to keep a sustainable young population for building maintaining any infrastructure you have to have a selection of breeding humans. where would we feature?

who says it's so important for our species to survive anyway?
