Visting Avebury and Stonehenge week after Easter , anyone know if the Barge is open , website not telling me anything . Coming down from the misty mountains of the north and looking forward to a glass of Alien Abduction again lol

Just called them and yes, they are open during the week after Easter. Their new website is under construction so that’s why there’s no up-to-date info available. Enjoy :-)

If you haven’t been there already you might want to try the Bridge Inn on Horton Road (a few miles down the Kennet and Avon Canal from Devizes). Easy off-road parking, the food is good and reasonably priced, and there’s a big beer garden right by the Canal.

Managed to visit this wonderful pub on our way to stonehenge , but we were shocked to hear that they intend to paint over the wonderfully iconic painted ceiling .
