Now whether you want to believe this or not. Note that Wikipedia has dropped the Daily Mail for being an unreliable source today....... but the Stonhenge news was on an alert this morning.....

Thanks Moss, yes I did see that link but, as you infer, is it real news or the other kind.

It does appear to be real news. It may not apply to this section of the route but, if it does, it's not totally unexpected: The balance of benefit, given the value arguments presented to date, appears to me to suggest that alternatives may be brought back to the fore. Some of those alternatives, given that it is the OBR, may not (to put it mildly) be to the liking of people who do not like the current submission.

The strength of value arguments in stakeholder submissions (on the current set or proposals) may be useful in that assessment.

This Youtube film has been around for a few days - I've watched it myself a few times. The horse's mouth I would say .... just over six minutes long.

For anyone in a hurry or with limited data allowance, there is a shorter version where JR talks specifically about the impact on Bush Barrow.

Perhaps, but it could also be a personal view. Who are the other professional archaeologists who have a major problem with the scheme?

Mike Heyworth and Dan Snow of the CBA et al.

Incidentally, "being an archaeologist" is not a prerequisite for judging whether massive new damage is appropriate, though EH,NT, HE would like people to think so. A pulse, eyes and a respect for prehistoric heritage are all far more important (things which I would hope most people here would have.) ;)

Where have Mike Heyworth, Dan Snow and so on expressed these opinions Nigel?

Thanks for that Nigel, but I was interested in who the professional archaeologists are that think it's a big problem (that Julian was talking about).

If I've read it right, Dan Snow is a broadcaster and, from the article, Mike Heyworth does not seem to agree that it's a problem.

I think Mike would be shocked to think you thought he thought it wasn't a problem.

As for Dan Snow, "a broadcaster" rather short changes him. He's a very prominent historian who is also President of the Council for British Archaeology.

Thanks for that Nigel, but I was interested in who the professional archaeologists are that think it's a big problem (the ones that Julian mentioned in the video).
