Virtual Reality or recreating prehistory

Three small films about the Avalon Marshes, a watery haven where pelicans and beavers lived, there is a reconstruction of the Sweet Track, Mesolithic and Neolithic Glastonbury Lake Village.

Mesolithic

Very soothing the soft ripple of the water and the wind through the rushes...

Just watched those Moss, thank you for putting them here.

I felt I learnt some facts by watching them. I didn't know for instance the wooden track known now as the Sweet Track was only used for a relatively short time (nine years).

The Glastonbury Lake Village - preserved under water logged peat for 2,000 years - was very watery indeed.

It seems people moved on - you can't help wondering why they lived there at all, although as the most recent film in the time line pointed out, the water gave them protection.

Lovely, thankyou Moss. It made me wonder how it must have been to live there experiencing the wonderful mists & fogs we've had recently. I also thought about midges:)

If you roll around in a peat bog they leave you alone. Great for the skin too, honest. Try it. Just look at Tollund Man.
