I spent a sunny, warm week, late September in St Ives last year. We didn't have a car so caught the bus to Zennor - walked up Zennor Hill (adders!!) to find the Quoit. The plan was to walk back to St Ives along the coastal path but after meeting two 'walking' couples at a bus stop (both from Yorkshire way) who said it was quite arduous we caught the bus back instead. I bought an illustrated book in St Ives Book Shop of Cornish Folktales* which has the story of the Zennor Mermaid in it - starts "Long, long ago when Neptune still held court deep beneath the tranquil waters of the Sea of Japan ... "
Didn't do too much that time other than visit the Eden Project again on an excursion from St Ives and wander along the clifftops watching the sky change. Came home feeling relaxed and healthy.
