Yeah, we were trying to get each other to do that but personally I get irritated by anything from that direction that is presented as public consultation as you just know it'll be full of vague words or tricky ones and the chances of anything being changed by anything anyone says is pretty low.

On the other hand, if you want to wade through it and do a summary for us we'd be very grateful! But you're also very welcome instead to do some more fun contributions if you'd like, (Megalithic stuff you can see from a bus" springs to mind!) The main thing is, do it for fun, don't let it be a chore, that's how I approach articles. As soon as I start boring myself I stop, which is usually after 3 brief paragraphs. The punters tend to lose interest beyond that length too.

At first glance the 'Plan' seems impenetrable, however the Summary is not very useful as leaves a lot out. I'm planning to go to the Public Consultation with the Wiltshire Co-ordination Unit at a local library on 23rd January and will try to digest some of it in bite sized chunks before then.

Have just taken a look at Section 11 - Roads and Traffic which has under it several useful headings i.e. 'Road Safety and Ease of Movement'. I was interested in point 11.5 which is on 'Public Transport Provision and Sustainable Travel to the WHS' suggesting a bus service linking Avebury and Stonehenge.

So yes, I'd love to take you up on your offer to write about a bus journey that takes in Megalithic stuff - perhaps I'll hold on until I can fully describe the journey between Avebury and Stonehenge (you will recall Wiltshire Museum did fund this as a project a few years back using the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust mini-bus and volunteers as drivers).

Point 11.4 is about 'Byways' - which is concerned (among other things) about the damage done to buried archaeology by 4x4s especially on the Ridgeway (although some restrictions are in place) and the Herepath near Avebury.

I travelled on the Henge Hopper with a most informative driver at the helm.
I still have the pics. :)

Hi, I've just linked up with your Facebook page. Was at Devil's Den yesterday and took a few photos of the small crop circle that has appeared on the slope just by Devil's Den. I'm not big on crop circles because of the damage done to crops but as crop circles go this one was fairly small and definitely a circle. You are welcome to use the photo if you would like to but I don't know how to send it through. Perhaps one of your group could contact me via a FB message if interested.
Best wishes

Many thanks. One of t'others will do that no doubt. I'll try to weave a story out of it. At present my only theme is how naff the aliens have got at making circles since the professional human circle makers bowed out!

I don't usually comment too much on crop circles because I know someone will end up offended. I personally consider them a form of vandalism and one hundred percent human made.

A crop circle exhibition has just opened in Marlborough, for anyone interested. The organisers are apparently attempting to ameliorate the impact on farmers by setting up a compensation fund to reimburse farmers who allow access to the circles - after they magically appear.

Yeah, in fact I think that's an underestimate if anything. ;)

I thought it was a bit off that last year an exhibition was held in association with a museum - a supposedly scientific organisation. This year it's being held at a church. Much more suitable.

(There, that should have offended all sides equally!)

A couple of friends went to the exhibition yesterday and posted some photos on FB which started a little discussion. Its odd that some people do still believe they may not all be 'man-made'. S knew/knows a lot of the circle makers, many now retired - plasma vortex generators and tractor beams are some of the items of equipment used. However he did go on to say ....

"It's not just about equipment though - the circle-makers' brains have been reprogrammed by super-beings from distant galaxies. Obviously! How would they be able to make crop circles otherwise?" :)

That's rubbish. Crop circles are caused by the illegal proliferation of genetically modified seed, which causes the wheat to lie flat in a particular pattern.

If we had that much control over genetics this world would be overrun by monkeys with 4 arses.

By that thread you linked to was a proper blast from the past. Some names I've not seen in a long time.

Vast kudos Mr S, for sticking to your guns all these years.
