The clinking stone
Sep 14, 2002, 22:13
I've a bitty local folklore to do with CairnPapple near Bathgate.
I don't want to register with the Modern Antiquarian cos then I'd never get away from this PC, but if someone else wants to post it there feel free.

When you're on Cairn Papple at night you are supposed to be able to hear the Clinking Stone, a single stone set thereabouts. Legend has it a wizard imprisioned a warrior in this stone, and the clinking is him trying to cut his way out with a sword.

YAIP,
You're already registered with the Mod Ant site — it's the same log-in as you use on here. So now you've no excuse.

If you ever notice this reply, please cf. the main Cairnpapple fieldnotes for an explanation of the Clinkan Stane. :-)

That's a smashin' web site that you have there

http://www.cyberscotia.com/cairnpapple/

in the gallery (strange & surreal) the UFO pic is most likely a plane banking into the West toward Glasgow Airport, however full marks for capturing the Haggis, those wee b/stards can be more destructive than rabbits if they are allowed to breed unchecked.

Hope to bump into you sometime at Cairnpapple. I'll be the guy with the cameras that he can't work and the dog he can't control!
