We were there just a month or two ago, we could see the excavation scars and wondered what they found, very chilling.

Very odd that no adult male skeletons were found....that would be so far though....as only a portion has been opened. There might be a segregation in effect and men buried seperately. There is no comment on the teenage male skeleton's state and as to whether he might've been ill in some way and had to be tended by the women...a case of waiting for forensics??.

Thinking more about the teenage male's skeleton....it is entirely possible that he was the heir apparent as leader of this "tribe"...and thinking that women and children would be spared perhaps he was disguised as a woman/girl.
Alternatively...perhaps there were catamites in Iron-age society...but only one in the tribe...a tad unfair???

I pondered on whether he was left to protect them and got slaughtered along with them. Though until the rest of the ditch is excavated we'll be guessing (and even then).

One teenager to guard them....isn't unlikely if they weren't expecting a massacre...perhaps he was deemed the fastest runner and his job was to get to the other men quickly to raise the alarm.. We could speculate forever without the evidence before us...so I'll stick with the poorly individual theory (for now....)
