heard on radio this morning something about a satelite mast being errected, i was half asleep though.

Yup it looks like police radio mast is going to be erected at East farm just north of Avebury.
The locall parish council have caved in after the solstice fiaso and given their permission.
the Airwave MM02 is to help the police move over to digital next year.
Its ironic that Avebury was bought by Alexander Keiller so that he could stop Marconi building a radio mast on Windmill hill.
There is a letter supporting the mast in this weeks local rag and online here

Will they get the system working before or after they erexct Avebury? (Airwave has been scrapped in other regions because it failed to deliver the performance it was supposed to)
