'Costing the Earth' with Alice Roberts
Feb 18, 2010, 15:27
Another Radio 4 gem caught whilst working at home today. Costing the Earth presented by Alice Roberts visited Newgrange and the River Boyne - where the intensity of flooding is expected to double over the next 100 years. Rock art got an enthusiastic mention, specifically Kerbstone 67.

Then over to Scotland and the Rosslyn Chapel; at this point Sci Arc came into the programme and the discussion turned to 3-D laser scanning of historic monuments. Working with Historic Scotland, Sci Arc are undertaking a three dimensional laser scanning scheme starting with Skara Brae. So people will be able to have the experience of visiting Skara Brae without actually going there – and if it does get washed away due to rising sea levels it will be recorded for posterity.

The programme is available on podcast and worth a listen as I have left a lot out.
