Lynn Museum and Seahenge
Dec 03, 2009, 17:51
"Following a major £1.2 million redevelopment, this charming museum tells the history of West Norfolk and is home to Seahenge, Norfolk’s astonishing Bronze Age timber circle.

"A whole gallery is devoted to telling the story of these unique 4,000 year old timbers which includes a life size replica of the Bronze Age circle. Around half of the original timbers are housed in a display which echoes their beach findspot. The gallery reveals information about the people who created the monument and the details revealed by a study of the timbers."

Nice one Mr t.

Re: their, "Megalithics is brought to you by the Ragged Rascals, (aka Maggie and Keith Davison). We have been keen photographers for many years and are now enjoying the extra opportunities that digital processes have brought to the subject. Maggie takes all of our colour, monochrome, and infrared single frame shots in all formats.."

I only learnt this recently but, using a digital camera seems like a pretty easy way to photograph in infrared, and the conversion of an old or inexpensive digital camera to photograph in infrared doesn't seem too difficult http://geektechnique.org/index.php?id=254 Once the infrared filter has been taken out though it might not be that easy to reverse it. Still, if you've got an old or cheap digital camera doing nothing much it might be worth a try.

Uamh an Eich Bhric (Cave of the Speckled Horses).
Dec 11, 2009, 14:38
"The rock shelter and midden known as Uamh an Eich Bhric, or Cave of the Speckled Horses, lies below west-facing sea cliffs some 3 kilometres south-west of the village of Fiskavaig and some 400 metres south of Geodh’ an Eich Bhric."

The virtual tour is fun (don't give up on the second pic if it takes you back to the first ;-)

What an amazing spot with those cliffs! And what a curiously romantic name, must it be from the waves? You wouldn't think you'd get many horses there otherwise?

The virtual tour is for the other cave, isn't it? It makes me want to go back to Skye, there's so much to explore. we didn't get to that part of the island at all.

Moss found the news on the Isle of Skye http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/81691/news/isle_of_skye.html :-) I thought the patterning on the cliff face (2nd pic down) may have suggested horses?

Isn't that an amazing quern stone!
