I just got hold of a a Victorian account of Souterrains (but they used the term Weems) in Angus. Nothing much to shout about..but I admire the authors curiosity as this is the only place where I have found anyone realising that the curve of a souterrain must have had a function of some sort..and is not just an unplanned outcome. Our man Hutchinson suggests the curve was to prevent any attackers projectiles striking home. Does anyone have any idea what the anti pict league may have had in the way of projectiles ?
