Fantastic neolithic mines in very north suffolk.
In fact fck it lets call it Norfolk (much better) and hope no-one notices :)

Indeed. I forgot to say, its English Heritage and make sure you get there before 4ish, cos Istr them shutting at 5.

Plus make sure you go outside rush hour and in the light else the road to it is a nightmare. (once you get off the A11?)

If your passing anywhere near Cambridgeshire on the way then I would suggest a small detour to a church of all things - Whittlesford Church to be exact.

If you go then look at the carving below the clock and over the door. A four legged beastie with the head of a bearded man and huge schlong straddles the doorway and tries to tempt a Sheela-na-gig who sits, legs wide, holding open her vulva.

It's one of the best exhibitionist carving there is - certainly in the British Isles.

Honest to God it's there and so worth seeing just to believe!!!
