Thanks FW,
i'm a wee bit more enlightened about this subject and the place I was at the other day.
I'll try to do some further reading on the subject in order to really understand - knowing myself, this'll take a while.
My brother was at Callanish many years ago and brought back the book 'New Light on the Stones...' by Gerald Ponting and Margaret (Curtis) Ponting. There's a general explanation of lunar movements in the book which I'll try and get my head round soon - I was going to read it soon anyway as I'm hopefully going to Callanish later in the year.
