Hmm - I'm probably not the best person to ask, but we went to Cornwall via Salisbury on the A303 last time and it was pretty quick - dunno if it's worth sticking with the A303 to Amesbury then the A345 to Marlborough? Then, of course, the A4 the rest of the way to Avebury. I bet there's a quicker way tho...
