'Dark Ages' messageboard/forum wanted
Dec 30, 2005, 20:05
Hi - I realise this is is off-topic for this board, but wondered if anyone had any suggestions as to where I might start or join in a discussion about Francis Pryor's 'Britain AD', which I'm currently reading.

Any ideas gratefully received...

The Gesithas gave Britain AD a real hammering when it was first published. They didn't like Pryor's minimalist approach to the Anglo-Saxon invasion theories etc. They may still be active at http://www.tha-engliscan-gesithas.org.uk/gegaderung/

I haven't had a look at this site yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed Britain AD. Such books will always invite criticism from one quarter or another as the subject matter can never be fully interpreted and someone will always have a different opinion. Personally I like his style of writing, his great love of the subject is evident and I'm avidly looking forward to his next book about the Medieval period.
