Winter Solstice 2005 in Ireland

Hello all,

I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Solstice wherever you are located in the world. Here in Ireland, a group of us took part in the annual "Winter Solstice Blitz" of ancient sites in the Boyne Valley region to celebrate the occasion. This informal event has been taking place since 1982. For a gallery of photos from the day, see the following page:

Unfortunately, we didn't see a sunrise at Baltray and neither did the hundred or so people gathered at Newgrange. However, conditions were quite good and the atmosphere up at Loughcrew was wonderful.
