'A Light In Winter' - R4
Dec 21, 2005, 12:42
Hi All,

Thankfully, my sister is on the ball, and urged me to log on to Radio 4 to the 'Listen Again' section for this show which was broadcast on Monday 19th Dec at 20:30.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/pip/sbhe4/

If you haven't already heard it, do try to listen via the internet.

I'm almost in tears.

Definitely going to enter the draw next year. As you say, TC, it is very moving even on radio.

My sister believes one has to visit Newgrange to enter the lottery.

Well, look no further for a summer holiday in 2006!!!

I thought the radio show was brill - could easily visualise the event; and the sound of scuffling down the narrow passageway put me in mind of a few of my beloved Severn-Cotswold barrow tombs - Hetty Peglar's Tump; Stoney Littleton; and West Kennett Long Barrow.

Our ancestors were gifted.

Indeed one does. Well, you have to go to the Visitor Centre.

I don't think it is possible to save it to the PC, due to copyright issues etc. If you look at the BBC's FAQs with regard to listening again, they mention it it's not possible to forward recent shows on more than five minutes, due to copyright, so I suspect the same applies here. I'd definitely download the show if I could. If anyone knows anything different, please say so!

I suspect we need to do the old fashioned thing; read the Radio Times as soon as it comes out, then set a cassette tape to record the show from the radio on the given day. I used to do that as part of my job about ten years ago, it seems rather archaic now!
