4500 years ago man invented the Smiley

Don't you just love having your brains sucked out, twisted into a mobius loop and shoved back in again!!??

The Hill Of Tara was first on the trip today. An incredible site with it's earth works all screaming, each trying to tell it's own story. And then some bastard walks past shouting into his mobile phone.Wanker.

From there we went on a whistle stop visit to Nath Maeve, an earth work surrounding cabbages. The day was on a downer, all vibes obliterated by my anger at the git with the phone. Time to chill.

And then I found it. A spiritual home, maybe even my spiritual home. As far from the sterility of New Grange as you can get, I experienced something today that reassembled parts of my mind. Forgotten links snapped back into place and oneness was almost upon me. Dowth. A stunning passage grave towering 5 meters, desolate in decay, glorious in ruin. Souls speaking from nowhere straight into my head, twisting and moulding my unconscious thought, filling me with love once more. Walking around it's base the curb stones sometimes speak, sometimes cry, each spurting forth different memories. The carvings on the stones offering no clues to who made them or why they made them, nor their meaning now lost in time.
From the top, looking west, you can make out New Grange, it's white quartz facia glistening in the afternoon sun, standing proud on the ridge. From this distance it's wonderful, I'm glad I'm not there. I belong here.

Then to round off the day, Fournocks. A recondtructed passage grave with a 5 meter chamber. After obtaining the key and sitting inside as my eyes adjusted to the lack of light the place came alive. The carved lintels over the three sub chambers, the large slabs making the walls the concrete roof.Shit. Moment lost. But then I managed to blank the concrete roof and began to seek the 65 souls that held this place home for 4500 years. None of them were saying anything. I don't think they like the roof either.

Then as you leave, now with owl like vision, there he is. Staring at you, smiling knowingly. I wonder if he ever laughs at you? Today he smiled. Today he acknowledged me and I KNEW. A 4500 year old face said, "That's right man, ride on".
