Mediterranean Temples
Aug 15, 2001, 12:05
Just got back from a short visit to Gozo (near Malta), which included spending time at the G'Gantija temples in Xaghra (apparently the oldest standing buildings in the world - according the Norris McWhirter...). Very impressive place - the size of the blocks used in the construction is truly awe-inspiring (stones roughly 5'x5'x18' - used as bricks! stacked ontop of others). The temples were originally roofed, plastered and painted... the original construction dating from about 5500-6000 years ago...
Just wanted to share my wonderment with you all...
