I presume you're joking about access only being to people from, say about 10km or so around the moor? Its difficult to tell without smiley's.

The report has not been published yet. As you'll appreciate there are probably only a couple of dozen or so people in the world who take an active interest in the rock North York Moors so word gets around.

that should have read - rock art of the North York Moors. This will change next year when the Mighty Graeme C and Paul & Barbara Brown publish their long awaited book on the subject.

I'm sure you must feel very priviledged to be the holder of such information, and also having viewed what is a very important part of OUR heritage. I can understand your reluctance to share.

There's no reluctance to share, you know everything I know. The only thing I haven't revealed is the exact location. When I viewed the excavation, the archaeo asked us not to put any pictures or details of the location on the WWW, I've respected his wishes.

Are you really going to get up and go and look for it even if you know where it is? If you really want to know, then you already know someone who can tell you (disallowing winding them up). What's wrong with keeping information like this 'secret'? It's no different to people keeping schtum about where extremely rare orchids are, or extremely rare birds are nesting, etc etc. Do you think that sort of information should be common knowledge too?
