non-Mega image outlets ? A cry from many hearts
Apr 22, 2004, 17:45
What might be termed The Megalithic Community is well served by the Stones Webring, this site, and the Portal. This last is pushing the envelope more than the implied subject matter but it is still the case, as far as I can make out from my own websearches, that no equivalent area of archaeology is so served by comprehensive sites that allow image contributions e.g. 'Romano-British', 'Dark Age'(Celtic, 'Anglo-Saxon', Vikingr). proto-mediaeval. So when folk with such material think it links to ours they can only bring it here for evaluation. Quite a few of the sites herein that it is suggested should require flagging would appear to come under this heading. Pity we couldn't find an online half-way house for all these liminal or obscured items. If anyone does know of any suitable places for us to publish such images to the web then we could direct interested parties to such postings as was felt might have a place here and they could evaluate there. This would then clear our decks- we could always simply add links where appropriate.
