By my calculations the guy has made £12k from selling a 24ft square piece of land - nice work if you can get it

I'm reminded of those 'Name a Star' or 'Own a bit of the Moon' scams.

Seeing as everyone I know knows I love astronomy, I live in fear that someday I'll be presented with a 'piece of the Moon' certificate for birthday or Xmas, and I'll have to feign delight.

They seem to have rather a lot of websites selling the same thing, and also selling the title 'Laird of Glenmore' and others too. There must be hundreds of Lairds of Glenmore out there now. Just do a Google search for "Laird of Glenmore" (with the double-quotes). This site has a few things to say about it, and about eBay allowing it: http://www.faketitles.com/html/scottish_heritage.html

Not a bad idea really. Instead of striving to bring down the British aristocracy we can all elevate ourselves to become titled landowners. Fitzcoraldo, First Baron of Smogshire.

I recall back in the 70's, buying an LP (anyone remember those?), possibly by Manfred Mann, purchase of which granted ownership of a similar portion of land, somewhere in the West COuntry. Details escape me now, but I always wodered what happened to that piece of land...
