Wondering why here?
Aug 16, 2003, 19:46
Well, Jane's caption of "Lissy wonders why here?" reminded me of this:

This is (I think) a seven-stone stone circle that has been moved from the field and just erected in the field boundary.

Could the Churchill Village Stones be there for the same reason?

I just read Hamish's post. Seems it could well be a circle after all ....

There was something big, something very big in Churchill at one time... the place is *peppered* with massive rocks.

If you're out there Jane, do tell more. I'm also mildly intrigued by the nearby maybe-cup-marks at Salford Church.

You'll have to allow me to show you when you come to Churchill. It's very intriguing!

I'm quite looking forward to it :)

It struck me just looking at the OS map, thatthe vilage seemed to be in a good spot to mabe be intervisible with the Rollrights, though obviously just trying to suss that out from contour lines on a map is no substitute for being there. Hopefully I'll get the chance for a good bit of wandering/wondering about the place.

Perhaps the page has been moved from the field and just erected in the field boundary too...

Sorry!
