I'm going down to Cornwall for a week of general laziness and sea air with my girlfriend and will be taking my TMA. But can anyone recommend any particularly good sites in what is a bountiful area?

Erm. All of it? No, seriously, there is some good stuff around St Breock Downs, then moving down to St Austell, you can pass the Trippet Stones and associated nearby sites. But you really should make the effort to get to Penwith. You can't move there without tripping over some wonderful, awe inspiring sites and landscape. Just do it all!

ha! thats exactly the kind of enthusiasm that will turn me into a dribbling loon walking naked across bodmin moor after being turned onto the entire stone cosmology of cornwall, and I'll love you for it. Sadly a week is not long enough to do it all. But thank you very much for the recommendations!

OK, the short version: 9 Maidens stone row (alongside the A39) Trippet Stones Hurlers Trevethy Quoit Duloe All are 'must sees' in my book and shouldn't take you too far off your route.

I find that, in Cornwall, as long as you have a means of getting about, nothing is too far away... I recommend the following (in no geographical order): Sancreed Holy Well (I love that place!) Boskawen-Un stone circle Alsia Holy Well Merry Maidens stone circle (all are on this site somewhere!) And: St Nectan's Kieve The chapel at Roche Rock I love em all! You're right - a week is never enough - I'm off there for a week in September, and know I'll not be ready to come back! Don't worry about trying to squeeze too much in - you'll be back..! Enjoy! G x
