Let the ranting begin ....
Please, will someone tell me why it is necessary to write a weblog and then totally duplicate its contents as fieldnotes? That's number 1 ...
And THEN to attach the fieldnote to the weblog so that the weblog page holds it twice! What's the point?
Weblogs are great places for discussing the guff and extra bits, such as what you called your fucking hire car or your horses name or that you were constipated or that all roads in Ireland are kak etc... that's part of the reason they were added - as an addition to fieldnotes so that people can add a story to their observations - but there is no point whatsoever in duplicating great swathes of text across the site. It clutters up the site and makes it look and feel crappy. It's an insult to the massive time and effort that Holy McGrail puts into creating such an amazing place for us all.
Surely Fieldnotes are for what you see AT AND AROUND the site and the weblog is there to do your doodling and story telling. Don't get me wrong I love the story telling, I love all story telling (except the weak and feable attempts by Jeffrey Archer and a few select others naturally)
Rant over for now :-)
Peace, love, rock 'n' roll etc to one and all
Tom
