The entrance to Reading Services on the M4 looks like it will be identified as a 'processional avenue, possibly for ritual or religious purposes' in ages to come. *Large* boulders have been placed either side of the roadway.

Is this the answer? Was the Avenue placed there so people attending Avebury didn't park their oxen and carts there? :-)
