Meini Meibion Arthur or Cerrig Meibion Arthur?
Apr 29, 2003, 16:21
I am trying to identify the name and location of a pair of standing stones. I have been looking for specific directions to what I thought was Cerrig Meibion Arthur near Foel Cwmcerwyn. Now I learn that Meini Meibion Arthur is located below the Preseli Hills near Cwm Garw farm. These stones appear to be similar. Are they the same stones?

I am travelling from the United States and I only have one day in Wales to find these stones. My nightmare is that I will spend the whole time hiking about in the wrong area of the Preseli Hills - virtually down the road from the stones I am seeking.

Can anyone give me specific directions of how to find Cerrig Meibion Arthur? I am grateful in advance for any help in this quest.

hey Z,

looks like the same one to me. Get tourself a good map, and take a drive. I spent the most fantastic afternoon around there (missed the Meibion Arthur totally), not including meeting the lovely Grendels ...

who I believe are the best placed to answer this ...

go, you won't regret it ...

Hey Riot...you trying to crack on to my harem? ;-)...strange place Preseli - you never know who you may meet.

The Stones of the Sons of Arthur (Cwm Garw) are easily accessible along a farm track and is a ten minute walk (they can be seen from the road). You can park on the open moor (make sure it's not wet) - full details can be found here:

Some research of the areawill pay dividends as you won't want to miss out on the other gems!

You will need the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL35 map which is excellent and double sided.

For other great sites in the area get hold of a copy of the forthcoming White Dragon magazine if you can as I believe there is an article on the Preselis in that too (;-)).

Hope this helps and have a great visit.
