Tina, you were such a talented lady who had such a hard life. Survivor on two legs (and what legs!) you were so full of life, it's going to be hard to think of you as gone. You blew EVERYBODY'S collective mind in GIMME SHELTER (1970) -- as well as everywhere else, like in the clips below. Witness her and her band while the triple goddess of Ikettes operate almost as a 3D afterimage of her Tina-ness as she works that stage like Miss Effortless. Unbelievable: "River Deep Mountain High" (live 1971) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhkIh4x4mmM "River Deep Mountain High" (original 1966 promo) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj0wPrN_Y_4

Whilst here in Blighty the populist media are having us believe that the only song she’d ever recorded was ‘The Best’, Tina was so much more than the bland soft rock that resurrected her career in the eighties. Those clips that Seth and Kid Calamity have posted offer ample evidence, to which I’d add her stellar performance as the Acid Queen in Ken Russell’s 1975 film ‘Tommy’. Wow.

The first song that sprang to my mind was "The Acid Queen". I do, however, confess that I have dwelled much into her back catalogue (pre 80s of course), but that can be amended I am sure!
