The Beatles - Please Please Me The Beatles - With The Beatles David Bowie - Low David Bowie - "Heroes" David Bowie - Lodger David Bowie - Scary Monsters The Kinks - Give The People What They Want The Kinks - State Of Confusion The Kinks - Word Of Mouth Vangelis - La Fete Sauvage Vangelis - Opera Sauvage Vangelis - China Vangelis/Irene Papas - Odes V/A - The Music Of Cosmos Arthur Alexander - The Greatest Emerson Lake & Palmer - Works Emerson Lake & Palmer - Works Vol.2 The Moody Blues - Every Good Boy Deserves Favour The Moody Blues - Seventh Soujourn Dennis Wilson - Poops Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue Dennis Wilson - Bambu The Beach Boys - Caribou Ranch 1974 Elvis Costello - Blood & Chocolate Mae West - Great Balls Of Fire (had to get this just to hear the mighty Mae's take on The Door's 'Light My Fire' although it's the rock'n'roll songs that suit her best) Misty Bywater - Lullaby Waterfall (the work of a contributor to these forums - this is permanently on my mp3 player and lovely to listen to when walking home from the shops in the dark) Bee Gees - Trafalgar plus: The Musical Box performing The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway live in Hammersmith - as close as you can get to seeing Genesis back in 1974, with original slides and costumes, plus a singer whose voice is so exactly like Peter Gabriel's it's uncanny. The highlight was an intense encore of The Musical Box itself followed by Watcher Of The Skies to round things off in epic fashion.

Brian Eno - Nerve Net. Really rate this. Plenty going on. Elbow - Asleep at the back - Seldom Seen kid. Prefer the former as the band seemed a bit too polished and radio 2 from then on. The Church - Blurred Crusade. Not a band I hear mentioned a lot but this offering is worth anyone's attention. Post punk psychedelic pop or somesuch. Plenty of back catalogue to explore - about 40 years actually. Michael Chapman - The resurrection and revenge of Clayton Peacock Can - Ege Bamyasi - Monster Movie Found that I've saved too many favourites into my spotify account as they wont now all load up - so have been going through and culling where possible: Anatolian Weapons - To the mother of gods. Not that bad actually. Yet to decide... Anarchist Republic of Bzzz - United Diktaturs of europe. It's going. Amon Dull II - Yeti - Phallus Dei. Can't be arsed The Amazing Snakeheads - Amphetamine Ballads. Wasn't bad but going Alpha & Omega - The Sacred art of dub All about Eve - Scarlet and other stories Alex Rex - Andromeda. In keeping with pretty reasonable Trembling Bells material but haven't the room Alexander Nielson and Richard Youngs - Ourselves Aidan Baker and others - Invisible cities - Noplace. The latter was the essential one The Aggravators - Guerilla Dub Adrian Crowley & James Yorkston - My yoke is heavy: The songs of Daniel Johnston Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier Adam Ant - Friend or foe Aaron Copland/ Leonard Bernstein - Copland... Adamski - Naughty 808 state - Ninety 23 skidoo - Seven Songs. More like it

Was mooching the web for something or other and found a site with a bunch of old music inkies in PDF. Some of the articles informed my listening to some degree. Quality of writing is all over the place, but I liked that a lot of music was given 1 star or whatever, as it seems to me that no one can write a bad review of something in the mags now. Anyhoo, This one made me laugh. First interview with Zoo label, Balfe, Drummond and Cope et al. Hate to say it, but Cope comes across like Rik from the Young Ones. Nice to see the various charts of the day too, the did seem a lot more varied than current efforts. Plenty to mooch about if you're interested, but this is the Zoo interview Issue (pages 18,19 and 54 and front cover no less) https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Sounds/70s/Sounds-1979-08-25-S-OCR.pdf Other pages that might interest peeps of a certain age... https://worldradiohistory.com/Record_Mirror.htm https://worldradiohistory.com/Sounds.htm https://worldradiohistory.com/Melody_Maker.htm https://worldradiohistory.com/New_Music_Express.htm Anyhoo, SOTW goes something like this A Certain Ratio - Sextet Never heard this before, even tho I do have Knife Slits Water and Waterline singles. Good stuff, like the rhythms and Eno-esqe ethno feel to some tracks. Always loved the dubby B-Sides of above mentioned singles too. Banshees - Nocturne/JuJu Thin White Rope - Red Sun EP MDMA - Eyes Wide Open/MDMA EP These apparently morphed into Utah Saints, but still enjoy their early rave/guitar efforts John Foxx - Metamatic Gary Numan/Tubeway Army - Replicas/Pleasure Principle Fad Gadget - Fireside Favourites Simple Minds - Reel To Real Pixies - Surfa Rosa The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys/Seventeen Seconds 808 State - 90 For a small time in my head, dance music never sounded as good as this. Still stands up as far as I'm concerned. I even went and bought the U.S. import vinyl version called Utd. State 90, cos it had Cubik and Boneyween on it. New Order - Low Life/Blue Monday Guapo - 5 Suns Don't play this prog/noise monster nearly enough. Don't think they ever made anything so wonderful before or after. Boredoms - Vision Creation New Sun The Constantine's - Shine A Light The Pop Group - We Are Time That's About it. Read The Dave Haslam book Sonic Youth Slept On My Floor, and kinda enjoyed it. Didn't know his origins was as a Brummie lad, and we kinda crossed over the same mid-late 80's period up in Manchester. Y'all have a groovy time!
