I was lucky enough to see them supporting Joy Division in the spring of 1980 at Derby's crumbling Ajanta cinema - and even back then the weekly music inkies were making lazy comparisons with JD about Section 25 and ACR, whereas a careful listen would reveal distinct differences between all of the Factory roster. I've still never got around to getting a copy of Always Now, but bought a few of the singles circa 1980 - Haunted/Charnel Ground being a big favourite, and one that I suspect a few later 'slowcore' acts were familiar with. The poppy 'Back to Wonder' really showed their range and didn't sound like much else coming out of the north west at the time.
