Great write up on Vox Pop, who I had heard of for many years, but never heard. Like so many other reviews from you and Cope, this is exactly what turns the musically curious into the musically devoted. Thanks again for sharing all these gems in 2022, and please keep them coming in 2023. I've had that Island Records LP on my watch list for some time, so I'll have to grab that one soon.

I'm the type of music collector that is always searching for something to get me excited, and your passion for the unsung and overlooked is infectious and deserves all of our attention.

So happy new year and onward to 2023!

Citizensmurf,
Many, many thanks for your comments.

Yeah, Vox Pop is a weird one. Even Discogs has MORE DRUGS THAN ELVIS listed in two places as both for sale as a legitimate release... AND not for sale as an unofficial one!

Between the EP on Mystic and the miscellaneous compilation tracks, the "Cab Driver" single is by far the best thing they ever released during their existence. And both performances on NEW WAVE THEATRE are stellar on so many levels.

There was a live tape floating around years ago that is great.
People seem to think it's possibly their first show (King's Palace, LA, Nov 1979). It's since shown up on YT:

Ernest Gibson's ISLAND RECORDS has been a long time fave, too. Such a finely articulated album.

Here's to a Happy New Year.
