To be honest, I’d never actually heard ‘Love Beach’ until last week when I read a faintly positive thread about it elsewhere. Jeez, it is BAD, and I don’t mean in the Michael Jackson sense. In fact, its godawful sleeve might just be the best thing about it. If there’d been even a whiff of irony about it, ‘Love Beach’ might’ve had at least some kitsch appeal. As it is, it’s simply abysmal musically, lyrically and existentially. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but…

Fotheringay- S/T The Groundhogs- Split The White Stripes- Elephant Frank Sinatra- Watertown V/A- Tannis Root Presents Freedom Of Choice (1991 double LP comp featuring the likes of Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Yo La Tengo etc. covering 'new wave' hits of a decade or so earlier. Was a benefit record for Planned Parenthood in the US, sadly appropriate and just as necessary now, though I pulled it from my collection at random).
