A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles
Shaved Fish - John Lennon
The brief high vocals on Tell Me Why still sounds like a mad moment of genius.

Twenty One - Nova Express
Apparently this was originally released in 2002, but it completely passed me by. I received the recent re-issue as a belated xmas earlier this year following a family member asking the proprietor of my local record shop (who knows me well!) for a suitable recommendation. And what a recommendation, too, as I've got to say this is a top notch release from a band described on Discogs as a ‘Minimalistic post-prog band from Sweden’.

Also…
Armed Forces - Elvis Costello & the Attractions

The Plateau Phase - Crispy Ambulance

Nanocluster - Immersion

Great to see them getting played here. Superb album! They are still going and play the odd gig (usually in Norfolk). Got one of the last albums (Between the Water and the Sky) and still good.

Yes, it's a wonderful album. I hadn't realised they'd recorded so many albums in the past three decades - I'll check them out. Thanks!

D.A.F. - Nur Noch Einer / Ein Produkt der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft

Cate Le Bon - Pompeii

Killing Joke - Laugh, I Nearly Bought One!

Disrupt - Foundation Bit

The Midnight Choir - English Ghosts
Mid 80's 'alernative' Sheffield band that totally passed me by at the time. Really enjoying this 2 CD comp. https://themidnightchoir.bandcamp.com/
https://fourthdimensionrecords.bigcartel.com/product/the-midnight-choir-english-ghosts-2cd
Also stumbled upon the Sheffield Tape Archive on bandcamp. Loads of live gigs
from the mid 80's onwards. Deffo worth a look.... https://sheffieldtapearchive.bandcamp.com/

Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always/ Reptile House EP
Currently enjoying a fan biog ebook which covers the most relevant part of their career. Could do without the lyrical interpretations, but in his defence, the book was written/collated from old fanzines he used to write as a teenager.https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08ZVYXLF3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_d_asin_title_o03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Simple Minds - Reel To Real/ Empires and Dance/New Gold Dream
Got given a just released biog of the band called 'Theme For Great Cities' for my birthday, prompting some archival delving. https://blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/Themes-for-Great-Cities-by-Graeme-Thomson/9781472134004
(Also got a lovely bound edition/ abridged translation of 'The Monkey King'. If you're old enough to remember 'Monkey' on the TV, same thing. Hugely entertaining adventure romp. https://blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/Monkey-King-by-Chengen-Wu-author-Julia-Lovell-translator/9780141393445).

Boney M track 'Rasputin' turned up on a very old CDr comp, and whilst much maligned in my youth, esp. by myself, I've come to love the kitch classic (plus you can insert Vlad Putin instead, and it's still kinda relevant). That led to a youtube mooch of 'Space Disco', stuff I loved as a kid, and had to shut up about when becoming a moody teen. examples of which are....

Space - Magic Fly (1977) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZavwtJxmqJI
Cerrone - Supernature https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ5V3OZdIZM
Charlie - Spacer Woman (1983) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEzeZHYAmQg
TOTP 1977 Synthesizer Special https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyvVKRDjOiw

Chin Chin!

Then there is the Midwinter - The Waters of Sweet Sorrow album which predates the first album with earlier versions. Just as awesome!
