https://www.lesrallizesdenudes-official.com/ [As HH was the place I was made aware of this band (via JC's AOTM from September 2002), I thought I'd share this news here. If this turns out to be a hoax, I'll take full responsibility, but several people of reddit have confirmed this from associates of Mizutani.] The mysterious and legendary founder/leader of the Japanese psych rock band Les Rallizes Dénudés is now confirmed to have passed away sometime in 2019. LRD was active from 1967-1996, but had only but a small faithful following in their own country during their existence. Having only released 3 official albums in their lifetime (all in 1991), LRD gained cult status slowly throughout the late 90s and 00s with a flood of semi-official (and semi-illegal) bootlegs. Mizutani was silent throughout this whole period, despite many rumours he would return to the stage. This new website is the official portal for all things LRD, and speaks about legitimate reissues of the 3 albums, as well as newly remastered recordings. Here's a sample of one of their great performances, from their only official live album "77 Live". |

Coolest walking out of the picture. Les Rallizes Denudes recordings should be demastered, at most!

Excellent interview, well worth reading. Although the bassist left the band in '73 he still has a lot to reveal about the enigmatic Mizutani. My favorite was that Mizutani only cared about two things: the sound of his guitar, and the way that he looked. He was, indeed, a beautiful animal.
