True sonic innovator and electronic wunderkind. The Cabs were one of those punk DIY bands (Like The Normal) that made me realise I didn't need a rig like E.L.P. to make cool electronic music. He was still mixing it up earlier this year with albums like Dekadrone. Gone too soon. R.I.P. mate.

I can't claim much knowledge of their oeuvre beyond the first three albums and early singles, but they were one of the few non-guitar-based groups along with Suicide that could make electronic instruments sound as scuzzy and sexy as a "real" rock band. I gather they suffered a similar bottling when they supported Buzzcocks as Suicide did when supporting the Clash.
