James Holden and the Animal Spirits - The Animal Spirits. Nice little blend of the jazzy and electronic Jambinai - ONDA / Differance. Mighty slabs of South Korean Post Rock. Recommended. I'm not that discriminatory - just listen to it all! Ivor Cutler - Who Tore Your Trousers. Thank the maker or Pagan equivalent for the stylings of Ivor. A true iconoclast. Jah Wobble - Ocean Blue Waves / Nocturne in the City. Had more time for the former. New Fast Automatic Daffodils - Pigeonhole. Old tape of my older brother's who was well into the indie scene of the late 80's early 90's in his teenage years and who I would 'borrow from' on occasion. I was a few years behind. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless. Had an old T-shirt of his and them too. Gave me cultural kudos amongst my peers.

Throwing Snow – Dragons. It’s all gone a bit electronic around these parts this week. This is an excellent meld of James Holden’s pagan techno with a heavier electro vibe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg03mbuiZqI Jason Sharp – The Turning Center Of A Still World. This is more ambient and dronic, but also quite intense in places, particularly when his baritone sax turns up. D Rothon – Memories Of Earth. Ah, some nice, calming retro futurism from the Clay Pipe label. Modern Nature – Nature EP Café Kaput – Applied Music Vol. 2: Plastics Today The Duke St Workshop – Lexicon Of Paragon Pines Sun Araw – Heavy Deeds David Bowie – Live on Musikladen 30/05/78. Oh wow. I originally started watching this because of the angelic presence of ex-Hawkwind violinist/keys player Simon House, but this is an incredible show in its own right. Amazing versions, particularly of ‘Stay’, but they’re just having so much damn fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu5GhPO44-Y Future Shock – Funny documentary from 1972 hosted by a distinctly bemused (and possibly well-refreshed) Orson Welles, based on the book of the same name by Alvin & Heidi Toffler. But check the first couple of minutes, which are amazing – Adam Curtis, eat your heart out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkUwXenBokU Gil Mellé – The Andromeda Strain. The cool electronic music in the above is by veteran TV and film soundtracker Gil Mellé, who was also responsible for this amazing electro-acoustic score: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-R0kuHyBb8 Brian Gascoigne & David Vorhaus – Phase IV. And then that led me onto this, extracted from the film itself, as I don’t think an OST was ever released https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj1peJ2oKb4 (Correction: Light In The Attic released a version of the soundtrack in 2015)
