Mojo magazine reported a couple of years ago that expansive Cope solo and Teardrop Explodes box sets were in the pipeline - but nothing materialised. I've just received the Feb 2021 issue and they've offered this news snippet suggesting that the Teardrops box at least is still a going concern: "a giant Teardrop Explodes box set continues to be assembled by Julian Cope and the group's PR Mick Houghton; full soundboard recordings from the mythic Club Zoo demos and unreleased songs are expected. Expect it in autumn..." If anyone has additional news or insider info...

The solo Cope box got shelved earlier this year which means Universal can focus on the Teardrops set. The last time they this was a 16CD box set of everything released to date, BBC sessions (though not 100% complete) and some BBC live In Concert recordings. I don't recall there being a wealth of unreleased material but this was before they started adding some of Julian's own concert recordings.

Apparently, there was a ZOO demo version of the 'Kilimanjaro' album, which would be great to hear after all these years and hopefully will be part of the box set?

There a few mix differences between the first Mercury/ Zoo "Kilimanjaro" LP (group shot sleeve) and the reissued version with 'Reward' and the Zebra sleeve. The addition of the original Zoo attempt would be great. Of course 'Kilimanjaro'can also be pretty much reassembled in alternate form via the BBC Sessions & Zoology. I never tire of that album.
