Cobalt Chapel – s/t / Orange Synthetic. Modernist folk duo in the tradition of Broadcast/Ladytron/Goldfrapp – if you like that crowd, you’ll definitely want to hear OS, their new one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ySAFwXV4g

Nilson – Here & Now. And talking of the above, here’s a young man from Germany who’s trying to out-hauntologise the lot of ‘em: https://nilson.bandcamp.com/album/here-now

Gazelle Twin & NYX – Deep England. What’s that, Sooty? More arty stuff about England’s hidden reverse and The Wicker Man? Yes indeed. GT is one of those people I find myself wanting to like rather than actually liking, and over the long stretch, this album is pretty hard going to be honest. However, this version of a WM fave is very good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyQEoaMZe8U

Witchwood – Before The Winter. No, not more Wyrd England, but Italian retro rockers pledging allegiance to Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull. Ridiculous but entertainingly so: https://jolly-roger-records.bandcamp.com/album/before-the-winter

October And The Eyes – Dogs And Gods EP. Young NZ lady who may possibly be acquainted with Siouxsie Sioux. This is a bit of a spiky earworm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otfvp-e8CyE

Brian Eno – Film Music: 1976-2020. Well, some of it anyway ie. only 17 tracks. He’s pretty good at this stuff though ;-) Includes edit of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4onBqilHvc

Kate Bush – The Dreaming

Michael Bundt – Just Landed Cosmic Kid

Hatfield And The North – s/t / The Rotters’ Club. Erm, I’ve never heard HATN before, which I know is a bit of an admission here ;-0 Prog jazzery of the highest order, but gosh, doesn’t Richard Sinclair sound like Robert Wyatt – or is it the other way round? Anyway, inspired to finally check them out by this…

25 Views Of Worthing – s/t. Canterbury Sound-inspired band from the early 70s finally release some recordings they did for Island. If you’re a CS aficionado, you’ll want to check ‘em, though it’s actually their 1977 EP (also included) which is perhaps more intriguing, almost anticipating the Cardiacs: https://soundcloud.com/barnstorm-music/you-are-what-you-eat-25-views-of-worthing

Hawkwind – Doremi Fasol Latido

Roxy Music – 1972 Peel sessions. Oh, I had not heard this before, first RM Peel session with Davy O’List on guitar. Better than the album versions?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZPfF-X_kN0&t=11s

Iron Butterfly – Heavy / In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida / Ball. Another band I knew little about other than the obvious track. Curious stuff, some of it pretty awful, some of it rather good, and all randomly scattered over these first three LPs. I can’t decide which category this track falls into, but it cracks me up every time – “Come here, woman!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUBk9WnclOA
