Cope Dinger feud

Klaus Dinger's widow recently posted Dinger and Cope's brief but bitter fax exchanges in the mid-90s.

Too bad that my two favorite artists / heroes couldn't connect, largely b/c of their respective egos. But if they didn't have such egos, they wouldn't be nearly as good.
At this point, there's little point in arguing who was "right," though it does offer some interesting glimpses into the mindsets of the two. (On a side note, time has revealed NEU! 4 to be quite good)

Interesting. Ego's be damned, I love Cope way more than I love NEU!, but the response he gave seems a little extreme and over the top. If I was in his shoes (Cope that is) I'm not sure I'd have even bothered to write back.

Judging by the tone, it sounds like there'd been previous exchanges between the two. But Cope comes across as deeply mean-spirited here.

Much as I love the music of Julian Cope I think that's a shameful fax to have sent to Dinger. Shows fuck all respect for the man.
I, and most people I know, came to Neu! through means other than Julian Cope.

Seems like there are some pages missing. No way that was the only exchange, and 6 months later? I believe this is only half the story.
I've always found that whole Neu/Noi/New thing funny. This is how I imagine a typical conversation between two fans.
Hipster #1: Have you ever heard of Neu?
Hipster #2: Don't you mean Noi?
H1: Oh, is that how you pronounce it. What does it mean?
H2: It's German for new.
H1: So the band's name is New?
H2: Basically.
