Zariadris,
It's hard to believe our exchange vis-a-vis the Tangerine Dream PHAEDRA and RUBYCON reissues with outtakes on SHM-CD was over 3 weeks ago.
I was going to report on my findings with the PHAEDRA outtakes (which I found amazing) until I started to spin the "Oedipus Tyrannus" disc.
Repeatedly.
That last track, "Act 3," kind of answered an age old question I had about RUBYCON and that was, "Why is this album so short?"
"Act 3" is that same elegiac coda to "Rubycon Part Two," only it extends for six minutes, then continues on into what would appear to be several segments of electronic extemporisations that lull one into weightlessness and absolute drift.
They could've easily made RUBYCON a double LP.
All of the material on "Oedipus Tyrannus" went unreleased all these years? I'm so thankful they issued it. It's astonishing group synthesis.
