still haven't finished with Swans: The Seer and To be kind (have decided the glowing man is enough from that period aside from the My father album which I already have), Various Failures (seems to cover a pretty good period - 88-92, so enjoying this), Swans are Dead Live 95-97(Again not a bad period). Also Soundtracks for the Blind and Love of Life. Cave - Threace Dope - 7 disquieting dirges and Black Math. Much preferred the former this time around Cope - Jhon Balance enters Valhalla. Still umming and arring about getting the new one but this aint 0.5 bad. Robert Plant - Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar Kosmicheboy - A Clockwerk Companion Lisa Knapp - Hunt the hare EP

Steve Palmer – Useful Histories. Latest in a growing line of cosmic Americana guitarists. Obligatory drone piece aside, pretty decent, particularly when he hits a Neu! groove: https://stevepalmer-sob.bandcamp.com/album/useful-histories Szun Waves – At Sacred Walls Slift – La Planète Inexplorée / Space Is The Key Piano Magic – Low Birth Weight Slowdive – Pygmalion / Slowdive EP / 5EP Mojave 3 – Ask Me Tomorrow Can – Ege Bamyasi VA – Atmospheres (MOJO comp). Seems a little odd to be trumpeting a ‘post-punk’ collection in 2020, but I guess you’ve got to call it something. There’s actually some rather nice stuff here. These guys have been getting a lot of attention, and quite rightly judging by this track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAZhzi9cpkc

2 weeks worth here... Action Time Vision: A Story Of Independent UK Punk 1976-79 – V/A Like a lot of people my age, I was in a punk band when I was sixteen. We were together on and off for a year or so and though we never actually gigged anywhere we had great fun rehearsing even if we were sometimes in a freezing cold local garage. Over the years I would occasionally bump into some of the other lads but last saw the singer Paul about 15 years ago and we had a good natter. Anyway, the reason I am writing this now is that Paul has sadly passed away. Like I said, I haven't seen him for years but will treasure some happy memories. As he introduced me to some punk singles I hadn't heard, such as X Ray Spex's Oh Bondage Up Yours which is still one of my favourite singles ever, it seemed appropriate to listen to some old punk after I had heard the sad news x Ribbons - Bibio Departed Glories – Biosphere Guesswork – Lloyd Cole Self Civil War – Julian Cope Miracle Kicker – Dark Captain Light Captain Office Politics – Divine Comedy Our Pathetic Age – DJ Shadow S/T – Giant Dwarf Original (CDS) – Leftfield / Halliday A Portrait Of... - Glenn Miller The Long Goodbye – Pere Ubu Say It To Me 12” - Pet Shop Boys Stranded – Roxy Music Sound-Dust – Stereolab Connected – Stereo MC's

I bought it when it first came out in 1985 and wasn't taken to it much. I was trying to cram so much Hammill and VDGG into my eardrums at that time and I was favouring his 70s output. But I found the same vinyl release cheap secondhand last week and it is actually not too bad, great version of Flight at least. I know there is an extended cd version (and vinyl release out there) but the 80m+ is enough for one sitting in my ears. Don't go to many gigs lately but besides Copey in a few weeks going to see VDGG in May ... so there ill no doubt be lots more Hammill etc over the next couple of months ...
