So, Seymour Stein at Sire Records wanted to sign both Echo and the Bunnymen AND The Teardrop Explodes, but could only afford one band, so chose The Bunnymen.
Had never heard that before.

particularly thrilled by the part were they got a call from a record label in New York who they considered stingy. Regardless, it was an emotional beginning for the Chameleons
