Youtubing The Cure's 30th anniversary Disintegration plus gig at Sydney opera house. Can't wait to see coverage of this year's Glastonbury. One of those bands where the B-sides are pretty much as compulsive as their singles and album tracks. Hadn't heard the Disintegration era b-sides and demos from the band's first set. Been venturing into Michael Chapman's back catalogue a bit more. Navigation from 95 seems to be worth a listen. Couple late 70's albums that didn't really do it for me like And then there were three (live album) and Deal gone down. The Membranes - Dark Matter/Dark Energy Melanie De Biasio - Blackened Cities Megafaun - Heretofore Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore - Ghost Forests. Didn't mind this and so want to hear some worthy ML material after enjoying her live. Ravel - Daphnis et Chloe (Berlin Philharmonic, Pierre Boulez) Anais Mitchell - Hadestown. Listened to this several times. Near perfect in places Mars Volta - De-Loused in the comatorium Meat Beats Manifesto - Actual sounds and voices John Martyn - London Conversation Low - Things we lost in the fire

Been zipping up and down the motorway this week collecting youngest from Uni...final year...three years has whizzed by..still, worth it for her, she looks in line for a first (she has worked extra hard for it, so hopefully it'll work out for her). Musical accompaniment has been.... Tin Man - Acid Acid Acid Does pretty much what it says. Old school acid house stylings. Perfect for those endless autobahn miles. https://acidtestrecords.bandcamp.com/album/acid-acid-acid Sabbath - Paranoid BEAK - >>> Missed these feckers live the other week cos bloody venue website said tix available, when in fact they had sold out :( The modern perils of not being on social media I guess. Still, great record. Fujiya Miyagi - Transparent Things NIN - Further Down the Spiral I actually prefer this to the album proper. Not really a NIN fan, but having missed out on Coil Live Five CD over on Thipes website I was listening to Coil's NIN remixes and thought I'd investigate this. There's apparently an Aphex Twin remix amongst the various tracks...not read the blurb yet (picked up CD for the insane amount of 1.50) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKVn_Cn6kVY&list=PL4B07AA79D8099E67 Gum Takes Tooth - Arrow Terrible name fer a band, but great record. One commenter over on BC says " Threatening, pulsing synths paint this whole record with a metallic, palpable menace. Reminds me of Coil, or Chris & Cosey, in the ability to get an emotional response with a limited palette." couldn't agree more. https://gumtakestooth.bandcamp.com/album/arrow Death and Vanilla - Are You A Dreamer? Well executed 'more of the same'-ness. Clinic - Wheeltappers and Shunters Think this has become my second fav' Clinic album next to Walking With Thee. First record in 7 years, I hadn't realised it had been so long. It's apparently their brexit record, and I can kinda see that in some of the lyrics. https://clinicband.bandcamp.com/album/wheeltappers-and-shunters Nick Drake - Pink Moon Endless Boogie - Vol 1 and 2 Finally gets a re-issue///lost my vol 1 years ago, so good to have it back. https://endlessboogie.bandcamp.com/album/vol-i-ii Boredoms - VCNS I played this to death when Cope tipped us the wink, so much so that I've had a hard time re-engaging with it sometimes, it soooo familiar...but soooo good to hear it again with the antenna fully receiving. Guitar Wolf - Love and Jett Garage punk noise fest 2019, fuck Yeah! https://guitarwolf.bandcamp.com/album/love-jett VR Sex - Human Traffic Jam If the Sisters of Mercy had been a bit heavier and had a synth player, I imagine it may have sounded something like this... https://vrsex.bandcamp.com/ That's about it. Off to Dawlish next week fer a few days R&R and hikes up on the moor. Typically, shit weather gonna roll in, but hey ho, I've got waterproofs (somewhere?). Have a good en!

Kingdom Of Rust - Doves I liked the first two Doves albums a lot at the time, but hearing this later one now, it...well, it just sounds a little too earnest for its own good. Or maybe it's me! Flashback – Fujiya & Myagi New LP from the excellent Brighton combo. Good stuff as alway. The Now Now – Gorillaz Hugely enjoyable! Never Mind The Bollocks – Sex Pistols I just had a massive sudden urge to dig out my old vinyl copy of this. And enjoyed it no end. It's easy to take your favourite records for granted and not even play them too much. Obviously you hear Pistols tracks in isolation, but this was the first time I had played it in its entirity in some time – and every track is a killer! Mustn't leave that long again! S/T – Alan Vega Oh man, this is so good. Half of it is prime rockabilly influenced stuff, the remainder slower and doomier. This is Elvis if he had been born, not in Tupelo, but in David Lynch's imagination. Also... Ribbons – Bibio Born To Boogie – Marc Bolan & T.Rex The Original Sound Of Sheffield '83/'87 – Cabaret Voltaire Monster Movie – Can Chris (French version) – Christine & the Queens Kingdom Of Rust – Doves A Mojo Anthology – King Crimson Dreads Enter The Gates With Praise – Bunny Lee The Very Best Of... - Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes Without You I'm Nothing - Placebo The Corner Of Miles & Gil - Shack La Folie – The Stranglers Ecopiesis 12” - Umwelt Pursuit Of Momentary Happiness – Yak
