Best live band for me were The Heliocentrics at Lunar Festival. Closely followed by AK/DK at the same event.

I also saw a local band play a blistering set in Brussels called Glu. Here's a clip of that very gig: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50-4ixRfu8I

I'm still thinking about who else blew me away live and will return to this thread over the next few days.

My noteable new albums list will most probably be topped by 'Sorry To Disturb You' by Army Of Moths. https://armyofmoths.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VusAuNJnhs8

AK/DK - saw them a couple of years ago, what a fantastic band. Had not heard of them; 2 drum kits & a load of synth equipment, then just two blokes get on stage - this really is going to be awful I thought. Wow – completely blown away, certainly my best gig of that year.

This year: a sad farewell to the Pretty Things.

The year was book-ended by two great gigs - both at the Glee Club, Birmingham.

Susan Sundfor back in Feb I think

And I finally got to see Mercury Rev, in December...

Never really got to see much in the way of bands this year, was planning on seeing Gruff Rhys but realised I don't like his new album so didn't bother going.

On the plus side though I did find some fantastic local music in the way of Bryony Sier and my friend Ian Lynn Palmer who both do a country/bluegrass style.
