I completely forgot to do this last week, distracted by other stuff…
Pink Fairies – Resident Reptiles. Been various iterations of these guys over the years, can’t say I’m familiar with anything beyond the early albums though. This latest version of the band is headed by Paul Rudolph, who I know mostly through his time with Hawkwind, but this is an authentically rocking album, grungey/garagey rock & roll taken at a decent clip and worth a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSQMXq461ag
Mueller Roedelius – Imagori II. Roedelius is in his eighties now, but he’s still knocking out various collaborative albums every year. This was perfectly accomplished, but as with a lot of modern electronic music, it didn’t leave much impression on me.
CAVE – Allways. Psych/post-rock types surrender to the beat. Tis good.
BEAK> - >>> Yep, really liking this.
Klaus Schulze – La Vie Electronique vol 1.2. Schulze has a pretty vast archive of early home recordings which are now getting released on vinyl. To say that this was recorded privately, the results are often pretty astonishing, the very definition of kosmische noir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75NzScFVZBc
Greenslade – Spyglass Guest. Hadn’t listened to any Greenslade since my early prog years, and hadn’t been intending to again. This was their most successful album, and some of it’s a lot better than you might assume, a jazzy/bluesy/harmony vocal thing going on in between the more muso progressive side of things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkQ4etbqXTs
