The Fall - Peel Sessions - discs 5 and 6. The last few sessions were just as interesting as the ones 35 years previous. Greeneyed loco man is probably my fav from 50,000 Fall fans can't be wrong. Ian Brown - Golden Greats & Solarized The Beta Band - 3 EP's, S/T, Hot Shots II. I can remember buying the 3rd EP Los Amigos Del Beta Bandidos 20 years ago at this time of year. Their proper albums were echoes and flourishes of the EP's which still sound amazing. Weird how things sound more intricate and developed or at least i hear more in them then I did then. David Bowie - Blackstar, Earthling, Heroes and The man who sold the world Bonobo - Days to come Hatis Noit - Illogical Dance EP - off the back of seeing her at the seachange festival. Folky, classical and avant garde arrangements of her voice on the erased tapes label Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band - 55 At the Drive-in - Relationship of Command Aphex Twin - Richard D James album Anthroprophh - Omegaville. Not too shabby psych Anna Van Hausswolff - Ceremony Anna Meredith - Jet Black Raider EP. Always seems involved in work of modern composers at the proms. This is the only material I really dig, except maybe Nautiluss Angel Olsen - Phases

Rubber Soul – The Beatles Listening to this nowadays, the difference between the Lennon numbers and the McCartney numbers (judging by who sings them) isn't as discernible as you might expect. They are still BEATLE songs if that makes sense. So many great tracks, but You Won't See Me was probably this weeks hilite. Down Underground LP's 2009-14 – The Liminanas Shadow People – The Liminanas Thanks Mongonaut for the information re the Down Underground compilation. Great to hear the Crystal Annis title track again – the first thing I ever heard by them. Bilingual – Pet Shop Boys I was disappointed with this for about a week on its release. Now I think it's one of their best. Metamorphosis has stood out of late. Also... Dubbing It Studio One Style - The Aggrovators Insight Out – The Association Tighten Up – Archie Bell & the Drells Liberation: The Island Anthology – Black Uhuru The Next Day – David Bowie Ballad Of The Broken Seas – Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan Skeleton Key – Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds S/T – Grinderman You Want It Darker – Leonard Cohen World's Strongest Man – Gaz Coombes Harder Than The Rest – Culture Cumbolo – Culture Village Idiot Dope – Dope IV – Faust The Now Now – Gorillaz Coincidence Vs Fate – Paul Haig It-Ness - Hox Our Secret Ceremony - Julie's Haircut TFCF – Liars The Correct Use Of Soap – Magazine Stranded – Roxy Music Bolan Boogie – T.Rex Bump'n'Grind – Marc Bolan & T.Rex Jackie Brown Soundtrack – V/A Modern Kosmology – Jane Weaver JS Bach's Violin Concertos

I completely forgot to do this last week, distracted by other stuff… Pink Fairies – Resident Reptiles. Been various iterations of these guys over the years, can’t say I’m familiar with anything beyond the early albums though. This latest version of the band is headed by Paul Rudolph, who I know mostly through his time with Hawkwind, but this is an authentically rocking album, grungey/garagey rock & roll taken at a decent clip and worth a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSQMXq461ag Mueller Roedelius – Imagori II. Roedelius is in his eighties now, but he’s still knocking out various collaborative albums every year. This was perfectly accomplished, but as with a lot of modern electronic music, it didn’t leave much impression on me. CAVE – Allways. Psych/post-rock types surrender to the beat. Tis good. BEAK> - >>> Yep, really liking this. Klaus Schulze – La Vie Electronique vol 1.2. Schulze has a pretty vast archive of early home recordings which are now getting released on vinyl. To say that this was recorded privately, the results are often pretty astonishing, the very definition of kosmische noir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75NzScFVZBc Greenslade – Spyglass Guest. Hadn’t listened to any Greenslade since my early prog years, and hadn’t been intending to again. This was their most successful album, and some of it’s a lot better than you might assume, a jazzy/bluesy/harmony vocal thing going on in between the more muso progressive side of things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkQ4etbqXTs

Only thing I'm gonna say is I just picked up a rare copy of the Godz Third Testament this weekend. Me and Lars just listened to it together and Lars had Godz II and we listened to that also.

Klaus Schulze – La Vie Electronique How did I miss this vintage Klaus. Thank you. Kosmische noir indeed, a perfect description. Goes so well with the heat haze of the LA traffic.
